
Tim Maggio is a partner concentrating in business and appellate litigation. Mr. Maggio has experience in a broad range of complex civil litigation including the Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act (“RICO”), federal and state class actions, federal and Illinois constitutional claims, appellate practice and jurisdiction, federal and Illinois securities claims, and Rule 60 post-judgment relief.
Mr. Maggio graduated summa cum laude from the Law School at the University of Notre Dame. Immediately thereafter, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Mr. Maggio has argued and briefed appeals before a number of federal Circuits as well as the appellate courts of Illinois, California and New York.

Mr. Maggio’s recent representations have included:
- Lead appellate counsel for Michael Shakman and the plaintiff class in Shakman v. City of Chicago, seeking to enforce a Consent Judgment that prohibits the City from engaging in illegal patronage hiring practices in violation of the First Amendment.
- Lead appellate counsel for Visa International in Schwartz v. VISA International Service Association, overturning a California trial court order requiring restitution of “foreign currency conversion fees” to cardholders throughout the United States under Section 17200 of California ’s Business & Professions Code.
- Co-appellate counsel representing Provena Covenant Medical Center in Provena Covenant Medical Center v. Department of Revenue of the State of Illinois, seeking to overturn a first-of-its-kind denial of property tax exemptions to an Illinois charitable and religious hospital.
