
Mr. Mitchell is an Associate in Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell’s Litigation Department, and he is a member of the Business Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group, the Aviation Practice Group, and the Appellate Practice Group. Mr. Mitchell's practice involves all aspects of business litigation. Mr. Mitchell focuses his practice on the defense of airlines, aviation manufacturers, air carriers, aviation security companies, and aircraft leasing companies against various allegations, including wrongful death, product defects, breach of warranty, breach of contract, and negligence. In defense of these complex claims, Mr. Mitchell's practice involves litigation in state and federal courts across the United States.
In addition, Mr. Mitchell is currently an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he teaches a course in Appellate Advocacy. Mr. Mitchell is also an active pro bono practitioner. Most recently, Mr. Mitchell’s pro bono activities have included working on an amicus curiae brief filed with the Iowa Supreme Court, and representing Tibetan nationals seeking political asylum in the United States. Prior to joining Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, Mr. Mitchell served as a law clerk to the Honorable John P. Tully, Illinois Appellate Court, First District.

Representative Experience
• Representing the security company that conducted pre-board passenger screening for American Airlines Flight 11 in consolidated litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The consolidated litigation concerns the loss of life and loss of property arising out of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
• Representing reinsurers of a satellite manufacturer in declaratory judgment actions and appeals involving a series of failed telecommunications satellites. • Representing aircraft lessors in defense of wrongful death claims arising from the crash of a Transair aircraft near Lockhart River, Queensland, Australia on May 7, 2005. • Representing aircraft lessors in defense of 110 wrongful death claims arising from the crash of Air Philippines Flight 541 on April 17, 2000.
